Here at Redefine Canine we appreciate that no two dogs are the same, therefore understand there is no one size fits all approach when it comes to training. Each session is tailored to the dog in front of us, including our group classes so don’t stress if your canine just doesn’t want to play ball and fit in with the crowd!

We believe training should be fun and engaging for both owners and canines therefore utilise reward based training methods to ensure a happy, stress free relationship. Building the bond between owner and canine is an important step in the training process to help improve their handling and communication skills and in turn their confidence with their dogs.

Redefine Canine offers everything from group training classes to one on one sessions to cater for your individual needs. Our one on one sessions are tailored to your family, ensuring training plans are practical for the whole family to follow, ensuring success.

Nicole has had a life long passion for dogs starting with her own family dogs, moving into volunteering for shelters and then rescue groups. Whilst volunteering within rescue her thirst for knowledge increased and she signed up with the National Dog Trainers Federation to complete her certificate III in dog training and behaviour and then Redefine Canine was born. Nicole continues to expand her wealth of knowledge by attending regular seminars run by some of the world’s top trainers.

Puppy classes

You have just bought home your new puppy, how exciting! But now what? The way you raise your puppy now will define a lot of their future behaviours so it is important to get it right.

Our puppy classes are for ages 8 weeks old up to 18 weeks old. To be eligible for classes your puppy must not be older than 14 weeks old on the class start date. We include topics like appropriate socialisation, diet, training methods, typical puppy troubleshooting i.e. biting, jumping, toilet training, leash skills, recall and much more.

Classes are both informational and social, meaning pawrents are getting all the information needed to help puppy grow into a model canine citizen, as well as learning some training basics and having fun socialising with other puppy friends.

All classes are closely monitored for appropriate socialisation to ensure all puppies are receiving a positive experience, no puppy mosh pits here!

Puppies are only required to have completed their first vaccination to attend.

walk and train

Already signed up to one of our training packages and need some extra help keeping on top of your dogs leash skills? Maybe you have completed basic obedience and are struggling to diagnose where you are going wrong once leaving the safety of the pack? Or simply need someone experienced to continue your leash skills whilst you are away? Then our walk and trains might be just the ticket!

Our qualified trainer will come to your home to work on your canines’ leash manners for you. This will help build good foundations to help you progress in your own training as well as provide your beloved pooch with some extra stimulation and exercise. Owners are not present for these lessons so sit back and relax while our trainer takes care of your pooch.

In home puppy school

Pressed for time? Unable to make regular classes? Or simply don't like being in a group setting? Well in home puppy school is for you!

You will complete four one hour lessons (approximately one each week) one on one with our trainer. You will learn all of the topics that we cover in puppy preschool classes in the comfort of your own home.

In home puppy school is suited to all puppies aged 8-18 weeks so learning can start as soon as you bring your puppy home.

No initial assessment is needed so you can get started ASAP!

Therapy Dogs Australia

We are proud to be partnered with Therapy Dogs Australia to complete behavioural assessments for their therapy dog teams.

Basic Obedience

Completed puppy class and not sure what next? Maybe you have an older dog at home that is no longer the goodest boy and is in need of a refresh? Then basic obedience classes are for you!

In these group classes we cover topics such as the foundations of training, basic commands, nice lead manners, recall, impulse control and much more. We teach you how to effectively communicate with your canines whilst keeping it fun for you both thus ensuring a happier homelife. Group classes are suited to all dogs over the age of approximately 5 months that are not aggressive, reactive or nervous. If you have an aggressive, reactive or nervous dog, please get in touch about an initial assessment.

Our one on one sessions are tailored to your family, ensuring training plans are practical for the whole family to follow ensuring success. Our reward based training is fun and engaging for both canine and owners to help keep all involved happy and engaged.

Training starts with an initial assessment to discuss your dog’s behaviour, everyday living situation and your training goals to help formulate a training plan to suit. We also discuss things like diet, management and prior learning to help piece together your dog’s behaviour patterns.

No training is completed during the initial assessment as we purely focus on the "why" behind the behaviour. From this assessment we will discuss appropriate training packages to get the best results for your problem pooch.

puppy socialisation sessions

Ensuring your puppy is well socialised is the most important but stressful part of puppy raising!

Our trainer will come to your home & work with your puppy one on one to help them become brave & when they are ready, take them out into the world. Owners are not included in this session so sit back and relax or better yet, book during the day while you are at work to give your puppy some stimulation during the long work day!

An initial assessment is not required for a puppy socialisation session. Suitable for puppies 8-18 weeks.

Puppy Classes

Our puppy class runs for 6 weeks and has a maximum of 10 puppies per class.

Puppies must have received their first vaccination to attend class, please feel free to get in touch to discuss further if required.

Socialisation is closely monitored to ensure a safe and positive experience for all, no puppy mosh pits here!

Basic Obedience

Our basic obedience class runs for 6 weeks and has a maximum of 8 dogs per class.

These classes are not suited to aggressive or reactive dogs due to the nature of many other dogs and people being present. Please contact us if you are unsure if your dog is suitable for group classes.

walk and train

Our Walk and Train service is designed for existing clients to continue working on any issues they may have whilst walking right from the moment of picking up the leash. These sessions are 45 minutes and are conducted without the owner present to ensure focus is with the trainer to help diagnose any issues.

Our trainer will meet you at a chosen location to complete the behavioural component of your therapy dog assessment for Therapy Dogs Australia.

Sessions run for approximately 45 minutes.

Our One on One sessions are tailored to your dog and family. They are conducted in the dogs home and include all dogs in the family.

Our initial assessment is required for all new clients. The session runs for 45 minutes and covers the assessment & diagnoses.

Our training packages will be recommended after the initial assessment to best suit the dogs needs.

puppy socialisation sessions

Our trainer will come to your home & work with your puppy one on one to help them become brave & when they are ready, take them out into the world. Owners are not included in this session so sit back and relax or better yet, book during the day while you are at work. We even have a doggy pram for those not yet fully vaccinated!
